This vessel is unmarked, but marked vessels with this pattern
have shown pattern to be “American Villa” by Bourne,
Baker & Bourne (1813-1833), Fenton, Staffordshire.

Pearlware small plate printed underglaze in dark blue. The continuous repeating floral border, which features camellia and daisy type flowers, is reverse printed. Printed mark “Views in Glengyle” from Select Scenery Series. Impressed James and Ralph Clews (1818-1834) mark. 6.5” rim diameter, .75” vessel height.

White refined earthenware small plate printed underglaze in
medium blue in the Castle and Bridge pattern (Coysh and
Henrywood 1982:73). This pattern may represent a view of St.
Albans Abbey, Hertfordshire and has been found with the marks of Henshall, Williamson & Co. Henshall & Co. (1790 – 1828), Longport. This vessel is unmarked. 6.50” rim diameter.

the scene shown on the plate is actually of Liverpool, not Edinburgh, as marked. The painting of Liverpool shown here is what was
used to make the plate. The far right image is the center of an actual Edinburgh City plate that is correctly marked. This plate
has a continuous repeating floral border motif (see Border Designs), and a gadroon molded rim.
